Car stereo wiring harness
General Tips on How to Prepare for Installation of Car Stereo
Cars are wonderful things and very handy too in today's hectic life. However, it is hard to imagine a good car
without a good car stereo. But what if you have your dream car and it doesn't have the stereo system you want, your
dream isn't quite complete then. To save you from the hassle of finding the right company to install it and most
importantly, to save your money, here are a few tips of how to install your car's new stereo system yourself using
care wiring harness.
First and foremost, make sure that you have got all the necessary bits and pieces, otherwise you'll end up in a
mess by discovering that you are short of some of the required staff halfway.
Secondly, make sure you have bought the following: a car stereo wiring harness that will adapt to both your old
and new head units, an amplifier wiring kit, six fit of 14-gauge speaker wire and make sure that your speakers have
their own wires.
Thirdly, search the internet for a good guide of how to remove the dash or door panels, depending on where your
speakers are or alternatively buy such a guide in the auto store.
Fourthly, make sure you are equipped with the right sized screwdrivers, pliers, special wire cutters and wire
strippers, a knife, electrical tape and some other tools described in your guide.
Once equipped with all the above you can go ahead with the installation of the stereo using the car stereo
wiring harness.
Warning: Before proceeding with your installation make sure that the electrical system of your car is switched
off.
To install a new stereo system you need to have basic knowledge of electrical wiring, a good guide of how to
install a car stereo wiring harness, which you can either download from the internet or buy it from the closest
auto shop and a bit of patience and a strong will to do it.
Remember, if you are about to hook up speaker wires and can't differentiate between the positive and negative,
or which wire is for which speaker, take a 9 volt battery and touch the speaker wires. If the speaker moves
outwards, that means that positive terminals have coincided, if the speaker moves backwards that means that you
have touched the negative speaker wire. Try to avoid speaker wires running close to the amplifier's cables.
And also make sure that you buy the right car stereo wiring harness. To know which is the best for your car go
to e-bay or search in Google to find the shops with a wide range of car stereo wiring harnesses to choose from.
Remember the right choice is half of the success and don't save money on buying a good one, rather save it on
installation. Good luck.
